What is a Service Feed, and how can I implement this feature?

A service fee is an additional fee that may be a flat amount or percentage applied to a transaction which helps you recover the cost for providing a service.


A service fee may be assessed as a flat amount or percentage and may not be charged as a separate transaction. A service fee may be implemented by merchants in the following Merchant Categories:

  • 8211 - Elementary & Secondary Schools
  • 8220 - Colleges, Universities, Professional Schools, and Junior Colleges
  • 9311 - Taxes
  • 9211 - Court Costs
  • 9222 - Fines
  • 9399 - Misc. Government Services
  • 8244 - Business and Secretarial Schools
  • 8249 - Vocational and Trade Schools


If you are not one of these merchant types, please contact your Sales Representative to ensure you are qualified.


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Registration is required.
  • You must notify your processor at least 30 days in advance of assessing a service fee.
  • Service Fees must be implemented according to Card Brand rules, and the type(s) of hardware/software solutions available for each method may also vary
